On Wednesday, President Trump signed into law a bill that would guarantee back-pay to Federal workers who have been furloughed during the partial government shutdown. In the meantime, Federal employees who are furloughed will still not be paid, regardless of scheduled pay dates. The House and Senate passed the bill last week to give workers back-pay whenever the shutdown ends. The bipartisan agreement was expected to be signed while it was still in Congress after Trump and Vice President Mike Pence both said they supported the bill. The lapse in appropriations—now on day 27—has yet to be resolved through negotiations.
