Cloud Computing Caucus Advisory Group Session

Congress has joined the call to action for agencies to modernize their geriatric legacy systems – an $80 billion dollar annual expense that eats up most of the overall Federal IT budget.  The message from the Hill seems to be less talk and more action, with legislators rolling out policy  proposals that require agencies to set clear legacy system migration plans and meet specific deadlines.  One proposal, backed by the support of the White House, even includes a $3.1 billion revolving fund to help agencies pay for IT system upgrades.  How should agencies prioritize spending if the revolving fund is approved – what are the most pressing migration needs? Where can the private sector provide expertise to help agencies build realistic plans and meet deadlines? What additional policy changes should the Hill consider?
