The Small Business Administration (SBA) appointed Steve Kucharski as acting chief information officer (CIO) last month, a knowledgeable source confirmed to MeriTalk.

He replaces Luis Campudoni, who became SBA’s acting CIO earlier this year when CIO Keith Bluestein took a leave of absence. Campudoni will continue in his former position as deputy CIO at the agency, the source said.

SBA did not respond to a request for comment late today.

Kucharski has been at SBA since 1998, and most recently was director of the agency’s Office of Performance Systems Management.  According to SBA’s website, that office “oversees all financial system operations and enhancements to meet contemporary technology capabilities and ensure they comply with present-day standards and best practices.”

Prior to joining SBA, Kucharski served as a Presidential Management Intern, along with stints at the Justice Department and on Capitol Hill.
