The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace announced Monday a $2 million two-year grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for its Cyber Policy Initiative. The grant will “help sustain and strengthen Carnegie’s efforts to bridge the gap between the pace of technological innovation and the global policy response.” Carnegie also announced that it intends to match the grant through additional fundraising. The Cyber Policy Initiative is intended to facilitate international cooperation to “develop strategies, policies, and norms to achieve greater stability and civility in cyberspace.” The Initiative is specifically focused on mobilizing market forces to motivate technology suppliers and users to adopt cybersecurity best practices.
