The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) announced Aug. 21 the appointment of Benjamin Huebner as chief of the Office of Civil Liberties, Privacy, and Transparency. Huebner previously served as the Intelligence Community’s Civil Liberties Protection Officer and as ODNI’s Chief Transparency Officer. Prior to joining ODNI, Huebner was the privacy and civil liberties officer at the Central Intelligence Agency. He also worked at the Department of Justice as counsel for intelligence to the assistant attorney general for national security. Huebner replaces Alex Joel, who left in June. Joel had served in the position since its creation in 2005.
