FTC and VA Renew Collaboration to Stop Education Fraud Against Veterans

Veterans Affairs VA Vets

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) came to an updated agreement continuing efforts to stop fraudulent practices that target U.S. service members, veterans and dependents who use military education benefits. The Memorandum of Agreement, released Monday, says that the VA may request that the FTC conduct investigations on institutions that have been approved for the enrollment of veterans. The referral must provide a reasonable belief that an institution has utilized deceptive advertising, sales or enrollment practices. The cooperative framework states that FTC investigators would evaluate the referrals and submit their findings back to the VA.
