DHS HQ Names New CISO

As government cyber warriors recover from their red-eye journey back from the RSA conference, there’s news on the leadership progression at the top cyber operational position in government. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) named Paul Beckman as the DHS HQ CISO. Formerly deputy CISO for DHS HQ, Beckman replaces Jeff Eisensmith, who recently retired from government service.

The decision is a vote for continuity–and a strong vote of confidence for the HQ CISO’s performance. Beckman knows the inner workings of DHS and Federal cyber–and, as he takes the reins, cyber has never been more important. Like his predecessor, Beckman will surely take a strong supportive role to Kevin Cox on the CDM program. This is a big job–DHS led the government-wide workouts on the Cyber Sprint.

Beckman is a Radford alum–go Highlanders!
