Rep. Will Hurd, R-Texas, has finally secured his seat in the next session of Congress, as his challenger, Gina Ortiz Jones, conceded the race on Monday. “I want to thank my opponent and her supporters for engaging in the democratic process,” said Hurd in a statement. Hurd, the current chairman of the IT Subcommittee of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and a key figure in IT modernization efforts, will serve his third term on Capitol Hill, but will find himself in the minority, as Democrats take control of the House in January.
