OFR Says Cybersecurity Is ‘Key Risk’ to Financial System

The Office of Financial Research (OFR), which is an independent bureau within the Department of the Treasury, said in its 2018 Annual Report to Congress on Thursday that cybersecurity “a key risk” to U.S. financial stability. It also noted that digital assets–commonly known as cryptocurrencies–are not currently a concern. However, it did say that digital assets are worth monitoring “because their use is rapidly growing and evolving.”
