GSA’s IT Schedule 70 Expands Highly Adaptive Cybersecurity Services Offerings

General Services Administration GSA

The General Services Administration (GSA) announced today that it has modernized the Highly Adaptive Cybersecurity Services (HACS) Special Item Number (SIN) to include additional cybersecurity services.

With this update, Federal agencies will have easier access to a “complete solution of cybersecurity services designed to meet the government’s requirements to protect high-value assets (HVA) and mission-critical systems.”

“The cybersecurity market has rapidly evolved since the initial creation of the HACS offerings just two and a half years ago, and GSA is responding to this evolution by including key cybersecurity services that were missing from the original SIN,” GSA Acting Assistant Commissioner Bill Zielinski said in a statement. “The restructured HACS solution on IT Schedule 70 will provide Federal agencies with easier access to services and solutions to protect large complex network and data systems, including HVAs that hold sensitive information critical to national and economic security.”

GSA announced its intention to incorporate highly adaptive cybersecurity services into its IT Schedule 70 back in November of 2018. In its initial announcement GSA explained that “in collaboration with Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Homeland Security, GSA has identified several key areas that need to be included in the HACS offerings such as High-Value Assets Assessments to include: Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (RVA), System Architecture Review and System Security Engineering.”

In today’s announcement, GSA explained that the GSA’s enhanced HACS SIN 132-45 on IT Schedule 70 with service sub-categories is a “more broadly defined SIN that does not have to be updated as the cybersecurity market evolves, and it aligns with the needs of customer agencies to purchase total solutions.”
