The General Services Administration (GSA) has begun the transition process of moving its solicitations from the FedBizOpps website to the beta.SAM.gov system, according to a November 7 press release from the agency.

The transition is part of GSA’s Federal Marketplace Strategy, a broader effort to modernize acquisition at GSA, and will bring solicitations into the same portal as nine other legacy systems that GSA plans to retire.

“This is an important step that reinforces GSA as the premier provider of efficient, effective, and modern purchasing solutions across the federal government,” said Julie Dunne, acting commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service.

The migration will occur from November 8 to the morning of November 12, taking advantage of the Veterans Day holiday to make the shift with minimal disruption. The beta.SAM.gov website has been in testing since 2017, and will drop the beta prefix once GSA retires the legacy System for Award Management (SAM), which is next on GSA’s list.

“Working with customer agencies and hundreds of users in focus groups, we are creating a modernized system, improving customer experience, and reducing burden for the federal workforce and those doing business with the government,” said Judith Zawatsky, assistant commissioner for the Office of Systems Management.
