The General Services Administration (GSA) has appointed Josh Sawislak as Senior Advisor to the agency Administrator focused on implementing executive actions.

Sawislak has a wealth of GSA and executive branch experience, including four years – from 2006 to 2010 – at GSA during the Obama and George W. Bush administrations as Senior Advisor to the Administrator, and as Chief Emergency Response and Recovery Official.

He was Senior Advisor-Infrastructure on President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force in 2013, and Senior Advisor for Infrastructure Resilience to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan in 2013 and 2014, also focused on Hurricane Sandy rebuilding efforts.

Sawislak’s recent private sector experience includes Global Director of Resilience at AECOM from 2015 to 2018.

GSA also named Zoe Garmendia Senior Advisor to the Administrator on COVID. She has been a principal at event management and consulting firm AOJ LLC since 2000, and was Chief of Operations at the Executive Office of the President from 2009 to 2011.

GSA Acting Administrator Katy Kale said she was “thrilled” to have both Garmendia and Sawislak “on board to support GSA’s coordinated response to President Biden’s critical executive actions, particularly to fight the pandemic.”
