The Department of Transportation has appointed Chris Mendoza to serve as associate chief information officer (CIO) for Infrastructure and Operations, according to Mendoza’s LinkedIn.

Mendoza has been in the information technology field since 1998 and most recently was serving as director for Market Research and Digital Experience Services at the General Services Administration (GSA).

“I miss my GSA family and am thankful for all that I learned and was able to contribute to while I was a part of GSA IT and FAS, but I am grateful for the warm welcome at DOT and look forward to what I’ll be a part of as DOT continues into the optimize and transformation phases of its IT consolidation journey,” Mendoza wrote in a post.

Mendoza held his position at GSA for five years, from November 2016 until this March, when he began his new role at DoT.

Prior to his work at GSA, Mendoza had a nine-year stint in the private sector after he worked as a Presidential Communications Officer from 2004-07. He was also a member of various United States Air Force IT sections from 2000-04.
