Jaime Noble, CISO and Director of IT Security at the Justice Department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP), explained this week how the organization is moving away from legacy systems as well as integrating ICAM systems for government grant funding at the (DoJ).

At an event entitled a New Strategy the Future of Identity Security hosted by FCW, Noble explained the movement away from legacy systems.

“There are some systems that we modernized a few years ago, and thankfully, have been easy to integrate with our enterprise ICAM solution,” she said.

“But there are a bunch of legacy systems that have not been able to take advantage of all of the capabilities of the technology for our enterprise solution,” Noble continued. “And in those cases, we have to make some strategic decisions about what we’re going to be able to facilitate from that,” she said.

Noble talked about the need to prioritize ICAM systems going forward, and how modernization of entire systems might be more useful.

“We are prioritizing the systems that can take advantage of all the capabilities for our ICAM solution to be integrated first and then working our way down the list because, when we align our priorities with the age of those legacy systems and their capabilities, you’re able to make a really strong case for why something that’s maybe at the bottom of the list should be up for an overall modernization sooner rather than later,” she said.

Shifting to enterprise systems that can better leverage ICAM solutions is one of the most important steps that OJP is taking as it moves toward implementing zero trust security architectures, she said.
