DISA Names Barnhart Chief of Staff

The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) announced yesterday the appointment of Air Force Colonel Bradley Barnhart as the new chief of staff at DISA.

Barnhart is moving into the position from his previous role as the chief of the Mission Partner Engagement Office, where he spent the last two years in charge of customer engagement and outreach across the Defense Department and its mission partner organizations. He replaces Colonel Joel Lindeman, who will lead DISA’s Europe command, a DISA spokesperson confirmed to MeriTalk.

As Chief of Staff, Barnhart will be responsible for coordinating the agency’s efforts, supporting the 8,000 DISA personnel, and managing its $12 billion budget. He will report directly to Vice Admiral Nancy Norton, who is DISA’s Director.

Barnhart noted his experience in leadership and his focus on the workforce. “At Ramstein, I commanded more than 500 airmen, and most of my day was spent focused on addressing challenges to improve issues for the workforce. Here, the organization is much larger, but my intention is to set an environment that makes it possible for DISA’s workforce to achieve the best result,” he said in a statement.
