In a continuing effort to move email systems to the cloud, the Air Force said in migrated 555,000 email accounts to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud in early January, marking the first phase in a $1 billion Cloud Hosted Enterprise Services (CHES) program. This CHES program is a continuation of the Air Force’s Collaboration Pathfinder initiative to deploy the cloud service with email, productivity, and communications tools. “One of the benefits of transitioning to cloud-based commercial services is that it not only allows us to take advantage of current offerings, but it provides a foundation across the Air Force and Department of Defense to leverage future Microsoft Office 365 collaboration services,” Air Force Network Integration Center lead engineer Matthew Schramm said.
