18F Launches National Security and Intelligence Portfolio

General Services Administration GSA

18F, the digital services delivery hub of the General Services Administration, launched a National Security and Intelligence Portfolio to help national defense agencies acquire new digital solutions, according to a Dec. 10 post on the agency’s blog.

The new team partners with defense and intelligence agencies to address the digital challenges facing national defense projects. 18F has worked with the Department of Defense and intelligence community for several years and, according to the blog post, believes that this experience will help them provide digital solutions to the community.

“One of the most important outcomes of 18F’s work assisting agencies in efficiently adopting new technology and digital solutions is improving stewardship of public money,” Innovation Specialist Mark Headd wrote in the post. “No area of government has the potential to generate these benefits more than in the national security and intelligence area. Our work with defense and intelligence agencies has already generated hundreds of millions of dollars in savings.”

In the blog post, Headd also noted that when defense and intelligence agencies face digital challenges, national security is at risk. 18F wrote that it will “directly impact our national security and save lives” through this new portfolio.
