House Oversight Panel Sets Dec. 11 Hearing for FITARA Scorecard 9.0

The House Oversight and Reform Committee’s Government Operations Subcommittee has scheduled a  hearing for Dec. 11 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss results of the subcommittee’s upcoming release of the ninth edition of its FITARA (Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act) Scorecard. A witness list for the hearing has not been released.

The FITARA Scorecard, which debuted in 2015, is put together by the Oversight Committee with input from the Government Accountability Office to track progress by Federal CFO Act agencies on an evolving range of IT fronts. Those have included incremental development; risk reporting; portfolio management; data center consolidation; software licensing; modernization efforts; CIO status and reporting structure; cybersecurity; and Federal Information Security Management Act compliance.

Many of the 24 Federal agencies ranked by the Scorecard have raised their grades over the eight grading periods, but none aced the test on Scorecard 8.0 this summer. Taking high scores overall – a grade of “B+” – were the Small Business Administration and the National Science Foundation.

FITARA scorecard leaders in a variety of categories will be honored at MeriTalk’s FITARA Awards event in February 2020.
