The General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded the third and final cohort of the $50 billion 8(a) STARS III Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) to streamline procurement for purchasing IT solutions from prime contractors.

The 8(a) STARS III GWAC is a small business set-aside contract that provides flexible access to customized IT solutions from a large, diverse pool of 8(a) partners.

“I’m really impressed with the community on 8(a) STARS III. Since the initial award, 154 task orders have been issued for a total estimated value of $500 million,” Laura Stanton, GSA’s assistant commissioner for the Office of Information Technology Category, said in a press release.

“What’s particularly great is that more than 30 of the 8(a) STARS III contract holders who already have task order awards are new to GSA through the 8(a) STARS III contract – it’s really launched their mission support journey,” Stanton added.

The 8(a) STARS III GWAC allows Federal customers to expand capabilities for emerging technologies while supporting both inside and outside of the continental United States requirements. Additionally, the contract features limited protestability up to $10 million, and contractors are able to receive expert guidance from the GSA team.

This marks the third and final cohort of awards, after GSA announced the second cohort of awards in February and the first round of awards in June 2021.

According to the GSA press release, the STARS III contract provides additional opportunities to small businesses, in addition to supporting the Biden administration’s executive order on advancing racial equity and support for underserved communities.
