Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan announced on Feb. 8 that he was nominating Lt. Gen. VeraLinn “Dash” Jamieson to serve as Air Force’s deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and cyber effects operations. This position is the result of some reorganization going on within the Air Force’s intelligence and IT operations, resulting in moving cyber responsibilities away from the CIO to Jamieson’s current role of chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR). In her new role, Jamieson will also be tasked with overseeing offensive cyber, defensive cyber, and tactical communications, according to Air Force officials.
