The Federal IT community’s long wait for the release of the Federal Data Strategy is likely to continue for a little bit longer.

That’s according to Margie Graves, deputy CIO at the Office of Management and Budget , who said this morning at the AGA/AFFIRM CFO/CIO Summit event that she estimates the strategy will be released “in a few short weeks.”

“We have the data strategy coming out very shortly,” she said, and previewed that the document will cover tools and platforms for managing data, along with security and privacy issues that need to be baked into the equation.

Perhaps most importantly, she said, the strategy will set forth “how do you derive usefulness from that data – that’s the most useful piece.”
