U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) has been awarded a new designation making it an official Federal laboratory and conferring on the command unique privileges to advance the creation of new technologies.

“As a Federal Laboratory, USCYBERCOM gains access to unique rights and privileges, enhancing our capacity to drive innovation, collaborate with academia and industry leaders, and contribute significantly to advancements in the development of cyber technologies,” stated USCYBERCOM in a LinkedIn posting on Feb. 13.

Following up on the laboratory designation, USCYBERCOM has established the Office of Research and Technology Application (ORTA) which will work to implement recent technology transfer agreements outlined in DoD Instruction 5535.08.

ORTA will  promote technology transfer agreements including Educational Partnership Agreements (EPA), Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA), and Partnership Intermediary Agreements (PIA).

“We extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated team, esteemed partners, and supporters whose collective efforts have played an integral role in attaining this noteworthy milestone,” stated USCYBERCOM.

“Together, we are charting a course towards the future of stronger cyber solutions, fortified by innovation and resilience,” USCYBERCOM said.
