Cloud Computing: Winning IT Solution Becomes Winning Horse

A horse named Cloud Computing won the Preakness Stakes on May 20, covering the mile and three-sixteenths race course in 1 minute, 55.98 seconds.

The race brought an unexpected awareness to the IT solution. Cloud computing, often referred to as simply “the cloud,” is the delivery of on-demand computing resources—everything from applications to data centers—over the Internet on a pay-for-use basis, according to IBM.

Federal agencies are turning to the cloud to update their systems and make their services more user friendly and–if possible–faster.

IT professionals who understood the irony of the horse’s name took to Twitter this weekend to share their delight. Here are some of the best reactions.
