The United States Census Bureau has set aside a contract for small businesses to help the bureau leverage technology and will schedule an industry day to help decide who to award the contract, according to a Feb. 19 beta.SAM.gov post.

The Census Bureau is looking for contractors to complete three primary goals:

  • Use the latest in digital and tech advancements to keep the Census Bureau “as data leaders, with a broad customer-focus approach;”
  • “Enhance collaboration with Program Offices in the promotion, dissemination, and consumption of Census-produced data and products;” and
  • Help marketing “cross-cutting Census Bureau initiatives to present consistently formatted, professional and aligned messaging.”

52 companies either responded to the Bureau’s first request for proposal, posted last June, or participated in the market research phase. At least 12 of those are large businesses that will not be able to be awarded the contract.

While the Census Bureau has announced its intentions to host an industry day with interested small businesses, it does not currently have a date or timeline in mind for when that event will be hosted.
