Tony Trenkle

IBM

Tony Trenkle is IBM’s Chief Health Information Officer for its Federal business.

Tony helps shape IBM’s healthcare solutions and software capabilities for the Federal market.

He joined IBM in 2014 after a long career in the US Federal Government where he held a number of senior leadership positions in several Federal agencies.

His last position was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of the Office of Information Services for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) from 2010-2013.

Prior to CMS, Tony worked at the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the General Services Administration as the Director of the Office of Electronic Commerce.

His work has been recognized both inside and outside of the Federal government with a number of awards including:

  • Association for Federal Information Resources Management’s (AFFIRM)
  • 2013 Leadership in Health Information Technology Award
  • Presidential Rank Award in 2010, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)
  • 2010 Federal Leadership Award, and several Federal Computer Week FED100 awards.
