Melanie Keller, MBA, serves as the Food and Drug Administration’s Deputy Commissioner for Operations and Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Ms. Keller leads management programs and business operations across the global FDA enterprise of 17,000 world-class scientific, technical, and professional experts dedicated to promoting and protecting the public health of all Americans.
The FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by regulating and supervising the safety of drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and other consumer products. Ms. Keller’s leadership ensures operational excellence in support of this critical mission to safeguard American families and communities.
Ms. Keller is a recognized transformational leader with 30 years of leadership and strategy experience at the Department of Health and Human Services. She serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and is the Agency’s top HR resident expert.
