Originally an electrical engineer from Missouri, Eric Milstead has been a career member of the United States Foreign Service since 1989. Most of his career has been spent overseas with postings in Kinshasa, Zaire; Bangkok, Thailand; Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He recently returned for his third tour of duty in Washington, DC after a year in Kabul, Afghanistan. He has a rich background in information security and was the Chief of Cryptographic Services for the Department of State from 2001-2004. He is currently the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer as well as the Director of Global Oversight for State.
