Stacey Dixon will be the next director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). Dixon has served as the deputy director of the organization that invests in “high-risk, high-payoff” research programs within the Intelligence Community since January 2016. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats announced Tuesday that Dixon will take over for Jason Matheny, who is leaving the organization at the end of his three-year term as director. Prior to joining the agency, Dixon had a 15-year career in the intelligence community serving in science and technology positions, including stints at the Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Science and Technology, the House Intelligence Committee, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. “Stacey brings extraordinary knowledge and experience to the position and I’m certain that she will maintain IARPA’s high bar for technical excellence and relevance to intelligence priorities,” Coats said in a statement. “I look forward her continued work in delivering breakthrough capabilities to partners throughout the national security community.”
