Amy Northcutt, 57, chief information officer of the National Science Foundation, died May 6 due to complications from a brain tumor.

Northcutt was appointed to the position in January 2012 and was responsible for NSF’s IT investments, governance, policy, and planning.

Prior to serving as CIO, Northcutt served as Deputy General Counsel of the NSF from 2001-2011.
