The Senate voted on Wednesday to confirm Dr. Kelvin Droegemeier as the new director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). OSTP has been put in charge of the National Spectrum Strategy, which is an effort put forth by President Donald Trump to free up government spectrum for advanced communications. “The Senate has confirmed a highly respected scientist and academic to help further our nation’s economic competitiveness and national security,” said Senator John Thune, R- S.D., chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee. The Senate also voted yesterday to confirm Ellen McCarthy to lead the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research.
