Jeneen Iwugo
CMS Center for Program Integrity
Jeneen Iwugo has over 20 years of government leadership, resource management and policy implementation expertise spanning roles in three Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Centers. She is currently Deputy Director of the CMS, Center for Program Integrity (CPI). In this role, Jeneen directs program integrity initiatives through a wide variety of activities that combat fraud waste and abuse and reduce the Medicare and Medicaid improper payment rate. These initiatives include RADV audits, provider and supplier investigations, provider enrollment and enforcement activities, imposition of payment suspensions and provider revocations, as well as monitoring of CMS program vulnerabilities through data analytics and policy analyses. Jeneen also leads operational management of the Center’s 500 FTEs and $1.1 billion operating budget.
In her prior position, as Deputy Director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, Jeneen was the Senior Government Executive accountable for leadership, management, and execution of the Center’s $1.5 billion annual budget, 800 FTEs and 200 contracts. Jeneen started her CMS career as an Outstanding Scholar at the formerly named CMS Center for Medicaid and State Operations (now CMCS).
Throughout her career, Jeneen has led innovation, national program redesign and change management efforts for the agency’s national quality initiatives, medical case review programs, and beneficiary protection programs. Jeneen has repeatedly aligned federal programs with evolving agency priorities while successfully meeting aggressive agency goals. With curiosity, candor and transparency, Jeneen continues to solve national program implementation challenges for CMS.
