The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the CIO Council announced today the second cohort for the Federal Cyber Reskilling Academy.

The program aims to train Federal employees from outside of IT fields to become cyber defense analysts, with Federal agencies serving as sponsors, and hiring people after they finish the program. Through the program, participants gain “hands-on training for Federal employees to be trained as cyber defense analysts,” OMB said in a press release.

“With over 1,500 applications to the first cohort, there clearly is an interest for cybersecurity within the federal government.,” said Suzette Kent, Federal CIO. “We fight the Cyber battle every day and the Federal Cybersecurity Reskilling Academy is an investment in our Federal workforce and our country.”

Applications are open through May 15, 2019 and the program is open to all Federal employees, regardless of IT experience or skills.

The announcement comes just a week after the first cohort of 30 students kicked off their training – which is expected to wrap up on July 14.
