A new GAO report says agencies are unlikely to meet intended benchmarks. A new bill would force consolidation and closures. Keeping consolidation efforts on track won't be easy. A holistic approach to commodity IT could provide Federal agencies with proven IT capabilities and reduce operational costs. Do converged infrastructures and commodity IT make sense? Rich Beutel from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Chairman Issa's office as well as Ben Rhodeside from Representative Gerry Connolly's office kicked-off the meeting by discussing Congress’ focus on FDCCI, its future, and the integration into PortfolioStat.

With almost 7,000+ Federal Data Centers now on the map and a focus on PortfolioStat – what's next for FDCCI? If it's not about merely closing these data centers, what are the program goals; and how do agencies win in this ever-changing environment? The 2015 deadline is just around the corner; how will we measure up against the $5 billion savings goal? Attendees left the meeting with new perspective of the execution challenges and a better sense of how to improve Federal data center management.
